How do I get an updated Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for child support? It has been 4 years.

I’m a single father who has full sole custody since 2008. Expenses are getting more costly like car insurance,prom,senior pictures and college on the horizon. Am I entitled to more for these.

Is your support paid via the Support Collection Unit? If yes, you may want to discuss with them their ability to impose an administrative increase in support. If not, you will need to file for a modification. Whether you are able to obtain a modification simply based on the passage of time will depend on the dates of all of your agreements/orders. There have been statutory changes since 2008 that may or may not benefit you. You should consult with a local attorney to determine your rights.
