Question:
What Should I Know About Contributing to Health Insurance for the Kids?
Answer:
As an experienced Saratoga Child Support Lawyer, I often speak to parents about the contribution to their children’s health insurance. Parents may be able to keep their kids on their health insurance until age 26. If they qualify, parents can keep their children covered on their health insurance. The Child Support Standards Act, which governs child support, says “until 21, unless sooner emancipated;” however, two parties can agree to maintain their children’s health insurance beyond 26 – and to make ongoing contributions – by agreement between the parties. The court will not order it.
